Latest project : Atomium, Brussels
From March until December 2005, Capaxis was involved heavily on the Atomium renovation project in Brussels. The Atomium is Belgium's equivalent to the Eiffel Tower or Millennium Dome, which both also required, and still require large numbers of rope access technicians. It was built for the 1958 World Expo, and whilst planned to be dismantled after 12 months, is still here today. Each of the 9 spheres is 18m across, and it reaches a height of 102m.
Given that the most complicated structure to work on at height is a sphere, here our client had 9 of them. We were asked to bring our expertise to the project with a team of over 120 technicians. Our tasks included the removal of the original aluminium panels (the skin), installation of the new INOX panels, sealant application to the panel joints (over 16.000m) and a whole host of other tasks that required our specialised knowledge and experience.

(taking the record from London's Millennium Dome in 1999), and it even
stretched our capabilities!
